Introduction to Geology
Geology, derived from the Greek “Earth” and “study” is the science of the solid Earth and the processes by which it has been shaped, developed and moved throughout billions of years.
Geologists study the Earth, and the materials from which the Earth is formed, looking at Earth’s materials, structures, processes and organisms and how all of these have changed over time.
This module will explain why geology is important to the Petroleum Industry and will give an overview of the geology of hydrocarbons, their formation, composition and location.
