Hydrogen Sulphide H2S Awareness
Hydrogen Sulphide is highly toxic and can kill quickly, even at relatively low concentrations. H2S has one of the highest second man fatality rates during an incident. In most cases the rescuer is overcome by the gas and killed along with the original victim. In very low concentrations, H2S can smell like rotten eggs. However, the gas quickly destroys the sense of smell, making it impossible to smell dangerous concentrations.
