This module, written for one of our clients and hosted on our LMS, contains relevant information on Leak Detection operations, equipment, safety and Leak Detection procedures.

Course Content

The course takes approximately 45 mins to complete and is followed by a 15 question test to reinforce your learning, a certificate will be awarded for 80% or more correct answers.

What is Leak Detection?

This first chapter explains why Leak Detection is necessary, possible causes of leaks and some important industry terms.

Leak Detection Equipment

In this chapter we give an overview of the various types of equipment available for Leak Detection, including their safe use in practical scenarios.

Hazards of Leak Detection

This chapter highlights the dangers to be aware of when using nitrogen, scaffolding, hydrotesting, bolting and tensioning, radiography, chemical cleaning and unfamiliar equipment in the Leak Detection process.

System and Test Preparation

This chapter will take the student through preparing for the test, including the necessary documentation, understanding the different types of valves and the importance of their location within a pipeline and ‘rigging up’ the Leak Detection equipment.

Pressurization Procedure

This chapter takes you through the Leak Detetion test itself, including necessary safety procedures, the stages of a leak test and monitoring during the leak test.

Test Completion

This final chapter explains how to safely depressurise the system and the paperwork that needs to be completed at the end of the leak test.
